Rattling noise on 350 chevy motor?

I have a 350 motor in my demo truck and I started it up and something was rattling so I thought it was the water pump. I took the belt of and started it and something is still rattling. I can't tell if it is the water pump or if it's something in the

If it is an old school 350,the water pumps will start leaking at the bottom when the bearings go bad.It could be a stretched timing chain.Listen through a tube or a piece of garden hose to determine where the sound is coming from.
