pitbike engine will not start?

ok so i have just buaght a loncin 110cc 107cm3 pitbike engine 2nd use got it home hooked ip a 12v batt and the starter spun but not engage took the side plate off to find the chain was not connected

put that back on put the plate back on

Here's a link to a wiring diagram. Don't know how accurate, but it should be a start. May be some other good info at that link. Enjoy.
