Can I do a Engine Swap on a Mazda RX-7 or RX-8?

I like the look of the vehicle but the only thing that seems odd to me is the rotary engine. MY question particularly listed above, am I allowed to engine swap on the RX 7 or RX 8 and if I can what would you recommend.
